Despite solid performances from the leads, this reboot of the Spidey franchise is a more protracted, less-inspired version of a story which was already more efficiently told just a decade previous.
Imagine if Team ICO crafted a film that blends the essence of Noah’s Ark with the haunting tone of Stay -- that’s FLOW. It’s a fable as elliptical and mythic in its storytelling and aesthetic as found in the best of Team ICO's work. It does feel weird making all these video game references, but it's a compliment. My daughter and I were transfixed until the final, poignant frame.
