This is a transcendent piece of art that is so deep I couldn't watch more than 3 minutes at a time before having to pause and discuss with the audience I was watching it with. This encapsulates nearly all of the discussions I have and what I write about in my personal explorations into the philosophy of life, and in most ways this film hits everything on the head. I've been writing this review for over a week and it's…

There is so much police incompetence here its grating. Good gosh I just wanted it to end and every ten minutes felt like twenty. I remember when I originally watched this I was bored out of my mind and I thought the car chase was meh. Now I can at least appreciate the inside perspective of the camera which is a little different than most car chases, but that's not much for all the love this movie has gotten over the years. Overrated beyond all reason.

Loved this movie growing up. The lessons in it still ring just as true now as they did then. It's easy to get selfish or to give yourself excuses when things don't go well in your life, but that isn't how John Baker handled impending death. While first contemplating ending his life, he instead used his last year and a half to improve the lives of all of the children he had within his sphere of influence. Very few things are as beautiful as a life squeezed out and all used up in bringing joy to others. Definitely something to aspire to.

It feels like this modern generation is afraid of old people having sex or being viewed sexually. The film couldn't even use real old people for its elderly homicidal couple. This film is just boring, hamfisted, obnoxious, and also trash. I'm gonna be having fun as an 80 year-old man being rushed to the hospital for enjoying my wife's sags and wrinkles, and I'm gonna be proud of that.
