Earns mostly high praise from me, because generally speaking this reminded me of what i love about Sebastian Silva's Nasty Baby et al, which is the way it is able to constantly demonstrate an understanding of the forms + functions of the indie dramedy / rom com, eroding away at them until it subverts + warps them into something scary, sad, infuriating, and funny. A movie opposed to disposability and carceral thought, one unconcerned with being misunderstood, that juggles its saccharine conceits and biting developments successfully?? Give me more!

2025's Men by Alex Garland, but without the gall or style (don't interpret that as praise for Men), custom tailored to exist as a Good For Her moment so it can have reviews like "oh men are gonna HATE this," despite the fact its more concerned with shallow pandering + looking important than truly understanding + realizing its concepts, or being entertaining.
