faves are whatever 5 star rated movies i feel like sharing
the tone so incoherent, vanilla ice so charmless, the plot so unnecessarily dramatic, the music so intrusive and ill-matching, and yet.......there's something about it. it might just be the cinematography and set design. it might be im the preppy goody two-shoes falling in love with the leather-coded white rapper.
the first half is some of the most deft, sensual filmmaking involving childhood memory ive seen. maybe its because i went through something similar w/ my sister having emotional problems and expressing herself in ways that was equal parts scary, confusing, and oddly banal. i dont really know how to describe it without getting purply in my thoughts.
but the second half arrives like a cat bringing in a dead bird, expecting me to be impressed. the emotional subtlety…
this is so epic. this is so freakin epic. bisexual sleaze guy tries to seduce the guy and then sofia boutella kills him epic style. guy rides a hippogriff and jumps off and then jumps back on while the things still flying. really epic. it was even more epic when the thing kills the evil guy. oh oh and then a woman has a lightsaber and kills a scorpion thing but she feels sad. that was so epic. god. this movie was so cool.
