I guess when you’re young, you just believe there’ll be many people with whom you’ll connect; but later in life, you realize it only happens a few times, and you can’t really expect it to happen again. I think the chances decrease as you get older.
I feel like Charlie. In the way he stays quiet, the way he looks at everyone else like they matter more than him, carrying things he doesn’t even know how to say. I’ve lived with that feeling too, like I’m losing everything without knowing exactly what, like the world is just slipping through my fingers.
What hit me the most was thinking about my 16-year-old self. If I had seen this back then, when I felt so lonely and overwhelmed…
