Tremendous journey of a Holocaust survivor trying to achieve the fabled American dream. Clocking in at well over 3 hours, I found pretty much everything quite superlative, given also the $10M budget and the 33 days shooting schedule. The latter part of the movie could've been a bit more refined in certain aspects — namely in how less compelling it gets — but nonetheless it was overall delightful. Pierce was downright terrific in this role. This was also my first time watching a VistaVision-shot film projected in 70mm and it was just spectacular on all counts.

Amazingly well written script with lots of clever twists sprinkled over traumatic, thrilling and sometimes cheerful moments. It does an incredible job at keeping you glued to the screen, with not even one single dull sequence. And all of that is topped with some of the most staggering performances by literally every member of the cast, none excluded. Truly remarkable miniseries.

I'm quite sure there's never been a movie that's managed to stress me out so much to the point my stomach was churning like I was actually living that experience with them. It was all awfully realistic and relatable since it all starts with a usual night out at a club, and the one-shot technique of course helped hugely with the immersion. It felt like a nightmare I couldn't wait to wake up from. Also incredible performances by every one of the actors, unbelievably natural interpretations.

Among the most astonishing performances I've ever seen. Jackson Yee is rapidly becoming one of my favorite actors of this era... After his other remarkable work on Resurrection and Better Days, I'm very much looking forward to his future projects.

Undoubtedly among the best thrillers I ever watched
Both Levine and Hopkins managed to make my skin crawl, especially when Lecter stared right into my soul with those extreme close-up shots... Genuinely blood-curdling

At long last I'm diving into Ozu's filmography, and I have to say my expectations were definitely met, because this was just splendid. Slice-of-life films are among my absolute favorite genres, so I knew I was in for a treat, given his reputation. I'm in love with his signature tatami shot and also with how easy it is to feel for Noriko—I guess minding one's own business wasn't really part of their culture at the time. And if I know anything about this director, I reckon this won't be the last time I encounter such circumstances.
