Irreverent and very funny.
A heavy-handed treatment of the dissolution of individual rights after 9/11, which I thought might have new resonance given our current world. And it could have, had it been done more skillfully. That cast is full of great actors, but the writing and direction are terrible, surprisingly so given that it’s Fontana and Lumet. Disappointing.
Efficiently-paced thriller about manhunts for sport on a rich man's island. Joel McCrea and Fay Wray make a great team, and this film was reportedly shot during off times from King Kong. Great fun.
The world is better with this movie in it.
And the new Criterion package is wonderful too.
