Los Feliz 3 Theatre - 35mm

“Escape from Miami” Original Release Version

You just know these guys had a blast making this. It’s easy to laugh at the so-so acting but as the film goes on the genuine friendship between both real cast and the characters sort of blends to where you start to really like them. And oh man, not the sad ending version! 😭 It’s actually pretty good with a killer final shot but, ugh, such a downer after all the fun. Didn’t even know this version existed - let alone on film!

2023 4K Restoration

Downright surreal to see this projected onto the very stage it was shot on 41 years ago, not to mention having the band back together on that same stage to reminisce - when the film wrapped up by showing the energetic Pantages audience of 1983, it was like looking into a mirror as our audience of 2024 was feeling the exact same way.
