Much better than Dream Scenario, this director's previous, a film that I hated. Very uncomfortable watch, funnier than I expected, Alana Haim's character needs to get over herself. All I could think was what the drive home must've been like for the guests at that wedding lmao.

There's a fair amount to like here (not least that they paid me good money to do VERY little and be in the background for like 3 seconds) - the production design is gorgeous, the lead performances are great, the hair and makeup is amazing, but fuck me why does it look so... Anyway there's a moment in this where a character is dying and their last words are "YOU are the real monster, Victor!!!!" and that is the level of nuance/subtlety you get from this one. It's fine. Too long.

Harris Dickinson is quietly fantastic, and between this, the iron claw and see how they run (haven’t seen triangle of sadness yet) he’s proving himself to be an incredible actor with fantastic range. Child actors are always a bit of a toss up, but it’s a really impressive debut for Lola Campbell, and getting that performance from a child in her first role…
