I love my comedies about the existential hell of being a teenage girl, so this was unsurprisingly satisfying. The ubiquitous nature of the film in pop culture meant I've been too directly exposed to some of the gags to really appreciate their full impact, and I've been spoiled by far more cynical films like Ghost World or Welcome to the Dollhouse to get into the more conventional approach here. Still, this is very competent nonetheless, the girls really do live up to their meanness, and I get why this has a mass appeal.
