An elusive, yet stunning reflection on childhood, war, relationships, memory, and perspective. Mystifying, but deeply familiar. Striking and dreamlike. It's tough, but you don't need to fully understand something to appreciate the feeling it invokes inside of you. That being said, you should watch it with intention; my parents wouldn't like it. Honestly, it's not for everyone. There is a reason it's associated with Russian elitism/snobbishness. But in an era starved for "real" elitism, this is intensely refreshing.
