Holy crap, what a movie! I've only just begun to scratch the surface on the lore on YouTube so I'm not going to get into the intricacies of that or the debates from the online communities about what does or does not belong. I'm looking at this as a horror film, pretty much.

That said, it is really inspiring and wild to see these YouTubers making movies. Especially out of content they specifically created for their YouTube channels.

Gritty 80s/early 90s vibe. Love the blue lighting and the scenes in grimy downtown New York at night. Crime, cops, gangsters, Buscemi, Esposito and Walken dancing. How is this not a great time?

I mean... this wasn't objectively bad.. like, at all. Especially if you're a Star Wars fan.

Buuut...

It's true that this is essentially a 4th season of the show condensed into a movie. Or a several episodes-long arc. Also, while there was nothing objectively wrong with this IMHO, there was nothing special or spectacular either. For the first Star Wars film in almost 7 years, I think the franchise should have come roaring back with one hell of a bang.…

Mortal Kombat II

Much better than the first. Costumes look more like the game this time. There's actual fighting stages from the game included as set pieces (acid pit!).

This time around, the tournament is actually on. More characters from the game populate the movie this time, like Baraka and Johnny "Fucking" Cage, who kinda steals the show the way Kano did in part 1. I like the way they handled him this go around.
