Watching Greta try to be Chris Eigeman is like watching late period Woody Allen films where someone else is trying to be Woody—it’s somewhat charming but all of the original magic is gone.
Not good. Each scene is mildly engaging, and it’s shot competently enough, but it really doesn’t add up to more than the sum of its parts. There’s no tension that mounts throughout the film. The characters don’t unfold. Each scene is only strong on its own terms, which completely soils the logic of the epic that the film sets before itself. And for it to be so hollow in the center makes all the grand flourishes feel horribly pretentious(—the title…
