Both these performances are so incredible, I'm preemptively upset that they will surely be ignored by award shows.

Send Help was not at all what I was expecting. I forgot it was directed by Sam Raimi, and now I feel silly for being shocked at the rapid bouts of gore. It's sensible in this Lord of the Flies-esque setting, however the film has a fake-out romantic comedy feel to it in the first act, making the violence more jarring. Too…

Theresa Russell's performance reminds me of listening to high school theatre monologues. "I ate the divorce papers with ketchup!" All of the characters are more like caricatures, sparing no stereotype. I laughed often, and at times I don't think I was meant to.
