I think over hyped to be honest. I like the plot idea but the actress who played Clara’s mom made this a bit of a hard watch for me. McKenna Grace can be roped into that category in my opinion as well. This was my first time watching a Dave Franco film, I think he did good. I think there was good potential with this but it just wasn’t really executed that well.
The concept of this movie felt beyond 2007.
With that being said, they did a great job. Ryan Gosling portrayed the psychological and social effects if social anxiety and adolescent abandonment in a heartwarming and comedic way. I went into watching this thinking it would be quite the comedic film, which to an extent it was, but it also did well to touch you in an unexpected and emotional way.
Loneliness is an under discussed experience.
The song bowling with Margo had been on repeat since I watched it.
Overall I’d recommend, it’s a little bit of an uncomfortable watch but it’s a good movie.
