La Piscine, the movie this film is based on was 2/3 a great movie. This film more or less has all the same plot beats but replaces the stunning cinematography, tense dialogue and masterful acting with absolute garbage. It is also surprisingly unsexy.

One of the best movies of 2023. At least three spectacular performances. A director who is in full command of the medium.
I found the lens distortion, zooms and bad cgi hard to like at first, but their wrongness is what makes them work. It's almost like the wide angle lenses and odd camerawork that define Yorgos Lanthimos's style are his by default because no one else wants them. It's 2023 and almost everything has been done, so all that is left is to do what no one else assumes won't work.
This is what a dumb person thinks smart people sound like.
