Loved this one. Very eerie and unsettling, and was surprisingly emotional and human with its themes. My only “complaints” is that I wish it had been a little scarier, and that we could have had like 15 more minutes of exploration.
The jump from Clark’s first time entering the backrooms to him explaining what he’s been finding there to Mary left me wanting more. There was a lot of great buildup, but i think we missed a step and found ourselves sliding too soon.
Overall I really enjoyed this film! The set design and direction were immaculate.
George Lucas once said that at its heart, Star Wars is for kids. I have always reminded people of this, and I know this. I’m always a Star Wars defender.
That said, I really found myself not enjoying this movie all that much. It was fun and exciting, but not very interesting and felt very much like they had to scrap their original plans for a crossover, tv series culmination and in its place made another adventure of the week…
This movie (and its predecessor), despite the façade of a zombie film, is so human. What an incredibly inventive elevation of the previous film! Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell give phenomenal performances, though I’d argue Cho Lewis-Parry steals the show. This is one of the more disturbing films I’ve seen recently, but every moment draws you in and builds, expertly weaving the two storylines together until the very end! I cannot wait to see where the third film takes us next.
