Tldr; I liked it despite its many flaws. The effects were rough, so was the acting. But, I'm a sucker for stage play style tv à la Babylon 5 (which of course is much better than this) and I thought it had a lot of guts and heart. It's a good but rough dune adaptation.

A perfect action movie. Great characters, great music, great effects (for the time) and a fun adventure. Even Arnold who's usually mocked for his stiff acting is pretty heart warming as Quaid. I'm also always happy to see Michael Ironside! Must watch!
The film has an enchanting grim imagery that makes the magical moments pop up even more, I have to commend especially the scenery art that is a marvel to look at.
