Unbelievable. Got to see this at the Colonial Theater in Belfast 💜 packed screening full of locals who recognized someone or something in almost every scene. Beautiful, tender, tragic, and everything in between. 

The high school Moby Dick scene… 🏆

Realizing you are no longer as compatible with an old friend as you once were — be it for xyz reasons — is truly one of the most devastating feelings you can experience as an adult. It’s a special hell of a heartbreak. I truly loved how this film explored this, it threaded such a delicate tension in this regard that is incredibly difficult to maintain and pulled it off almost effortlessly. So in awe of this whole team ♥️

All I allowed myself to know about this film was that Weerasethakul went to Colombia and was so moved that he had to make a film there. I felt I knew what he was referring to, without being able to describe it, and Memoria proves this was correct. There’s a scene near the beginning of the film where Jessica is walking in the city and the loud bang sounds off—and a passerby runs off in fear.
