Much more interesting movie than Fistful! Better plot, better score. Such romantic tension between Clint and Lee. Their funny little leitmotifs. Oh, and Klaus fucking Kinski.
Really bridges the way to the big one, which I'll obviously be watching next!
Super un-serious and funnier than I expected despite the grating dialogue, with some pretty decent fatalities. The campy Cage movie fight scene was so dumb but still had me howling. What can I say.
Unfortunately the score lacks techno. But are those... slight hints to Techno Syndrome in the orchestra? Yes, yes they are.
The perfect Dune movie doesn't exist. Everyone's got their own preferred sweet spot in the Lynch-Villeneuve-Jodorowsky gamut. I, for one, would have loved some more outlandish costumes and sets, some more unhinged Harkonnen antics, and a lot more psychedelia in my spice. But I was impressed by how well the dialogue sums up the complexities in a lot fewer words. Great camera work, especially in IMAX. The ornithopters and machines are badass, the worm scenes are stunning, the cast is spot on, and the score is incredible. It's an intense fever dream from the mind of a true Dune-head. Fuck the haters, this movie rules.
