If I Had Legs I'd Kick You
★★★★½ Liked Watched

I don't want to spend my Letterboxed review criticizing other Letterboxed reviews, but I WOULD watch this again.

Thousands of movies have unlikeable male leads who make mistakes and do horrible things. We give them Oscars. Hell, most of my favorite movies feature unlikeable male characters who do horrible things. So, I have to give the same respect to Rose Byrne, Mary Bronstein, and If I Had Legs I'd Kick You.

This movie puts you in a bad person's shoes…

Haven't watched the original in a very long time. Its practically genteel in comparison to the later entries in the series. Sean Cunningham isn't on the same level as John Carpenter, but he still has a knack for atmosphere, building suspense, and setting up kill scenes.
(In so many other of the Tom Savini make-up movies, only the kill itself is noteworthy, but in F13, each scene is well constructed and satisfying).

Schlock has all the flaws you'd expect from a low-budget horror movie made in the 70s by a 21-year-old. There's plenty of bad acting, sloppy lighting, and a threadbare…

Nightwatch
★★★ Rewatched

I've seen Nightwatch many times (and owned it on VHS and DVD), and always appreciate it for its B-minus Se7en aesthetics - what you'd watch if you felt like a David Fincher movie but were also feeling trashy.

Revisiting Nightwatch last night, I was overwhelmed instead by the Dimension Films of it all. Their look from the late '90s hasn't aged well. (Not that this should be a deal breaker, but in this crummy DVD transfer, Nick Nolte's hair dye and…
