Approaching this film, I was a bit scared it would turn out to be another crazy fetishization of crime which is very common, especially nowadays, but I don't really recall someone doing it justice since Jean Genet.
Yet, I turned out to be wrong, this film is far from fetishizing crime, I would even say Bresson didn't really try to aesthesise it, to the point that titular pickpocketing feels very artisanal, like a work of a cobbler or a tailor.…
