Leo showing his young trans co-worker the cool minecraft city he built with his dead wife
The ultimate work of brash expressionism from pop culture’s wanker in chief. Feels like the longest film ever made. Michael Gracey knows how to do sparkling musical spectacle better than most of his generation. Highlights: the sensational Rock DJ scene, the other four Take That lads, all the stuff with Nicole Appleton and how she was depicted, every Baz Luhrmann-lite manic montage. Wasn’t as keen on the family stuff, which is stretched far beyond justifiable level of interest. Mostly very enjoyable!
What a strange film! Definitely not the steamy erotic thriller the poster suggests, rather a procedural sexual harassment drama w a massive dose of sexist panic. Mostly pretty rubbish but I can’t deny I was entertained between the fun score and the insane VR sequence.
I like Zwick and this is above average for this era and this group of actors. The romance works pretty well. Demi is the most convincing a movie star as i've ever seen her. Jim Belushi a big nuisance at the centre of the film, however.
Amazing experiment in not showing your titular characters for more than 5 seconds due to budget constraints
