I'm a sucker for geopolitical films, largely because of the underrated potential for unique storytelling that they have. For instance, we see here how North and South Korean diplomats are forced to work together (and levarage their respective international allies) to escape the Somali rebels coming after them. Not the most common backdrop, but I love the experience it creates.

The moral dilemas these characters face are fascinating to watch unfold, and the actors sell them quite well. The action…

I had mild expectations going in, and this movie really impressed me. Mark's acting is solid throughout, as is the voice acting from the other characters, and the visual aesthetic is immaculate; they really make the most out of the limited set they're in. It's been awhile since I watched an 'Oscar bait' type movie, but I'm glad I caught this one. Wagner Moura was captivating as ever, and the environment of a Brazilian dictatorship during the 70s is pretty compelling, to say the least. I loved the look we get into the lives of multiple people during that time, including the corrupt and the refugees. I felt a little unsatisfied by the end, but a second viewing might clear that up. All in all, enjoyed it.
