I am really not a fan of documentaries that use a heap of imagery from previous films because they keep insisting you see it only as an image even when you know the context. For example pairing a scene of Brittany Murphy hugging her abusive father with a talking head saying people on the ward invited their friends to visit. No matter how serious the subject matter I just leaving feeling muddled and makes the message shallow.
I thought I’d been hardened to horror but Evil Dead Rise just confirmed that’s not true. It topped every 2022 horror in the title sequence and then it spent the rest of the film topping itself. Step it up you lot.
