so cheesed that my favorite movie is finally restored in 4k :) every inch of production design and music direction is astounding and handled so lovingly. no matter how unserious the script can be, the weight of how ingenious mozart’s music is is never lost on you.. an endlessly entertaining masterpiece 👍
really teeters the line between clever religious commentary & obnoxious Ricky Gervaisian edgelord humor. some of the dialogue is genuinely hilarious— I love that John Hughes and Chris Columbus catch strays in this script for no apparent reason lmao
it is similar to Good Omens in that the queer-coded pair of exiled angels is the most interesting part of the story & not nearly enough screen time is dedicated to them. the main woman protagonist is so lazily written it’s actually pathetic and shameful lol
overall kinda bad.. but the damon/affleck apologist in me cant help but love that it exists
seen it 3 times now and I’m still enchanted…. love how playful and gentle the direction is . it’s really the most comforting approach to death/grief I’ve seen in a movie and I think that’s why I keep coming back to it
