More Incredibly fun mood piece. It's genuinely haunting in those cold cavernous castle chambers; if the low budget meant they couldn't fill them with lavish furniture, it totally worked in their favor. Besides the atmosphere I particularly loved Lom's turn as Van Helsing and the framing/camera movements. Glad to have gave this a spin on the 129th anniversary of the novel!

Like most monkey's paw flicks the conceit is always better than the final product, but this is definitely better than what I had expected. There's a lot of ups and downs here, some straight up terrible stylistic and storytelling decisions but also some really great laughs and scares.
