This many characters could work as a tv show. Linklater should give this one another try, I do want to see this movie, just not this one

Anchorman is simultaneously 4 stars and 2 stars. 4 stars because Will Ferrell is a comedy timing genius, here at the peak of his abilities. 4 stars also because watching Steve Carrell in Anchorman isn’t just watching a star, but a whole new world being born. He is so fucking funny, steals every scene, changes comedy forever. 

2 stars because this movie keeps making me laugh, but it sends all the wrong messages in the most classic 2004 sense. All the worst people took these messages to heart and that’s why it took me 22 years to watch this otherwise 4 star movie.

Francois is easily in my top 5 movie villains. Maybe because he represents an archetype that is all too easy to encounter in real life, people who ease through relationships and seemingly have no trouble treating partners as interchangeable placeholders for their happiness. Movie is so pretty, too

there was so much humanity in this movie. There were brilliant cartoon gags and unforgettable, understated musical numbers by Harry nilsson arranged by van dyke parks. Misunderstood anti-capitalist classic!
