Dozens of film references packed into a very slight, incredibly charming and fun rom com that accidentally invents both Instagram and Letterboxd? What’s not to love!
It’s pretty funny that PTA cops all this criticism for only making period pieces and then creates the most contemporary film of the year (decade? ever?). This feels like it was written and shot the week before it was released.
But as much as the film is about ~everything~ it’s also deeply committed to the themes Anderson has been exploring throughout his career, especially family: found or otherwise.

I think I say this too much, but literally what else do you want from a movie? One of the best directors in the game doing everything he is known for to make this slick, stylish, funny, and devastating, an incredible lead performance and a brutally honest commentary on the world we’ve created.
