Promising Young Woman
★★★ Watched

A good, fun watch with a strong message and great lead performance from Carey Mulligan. The beginning felt slow and a bit confusing, and it gets a little predictable, but overall it’s entertaining.

It’s gentle without being saccharine, emotional without being manipulative, and it has that warm “feel-good” quality while still dealing with real grief, loneliness, and second chances.

It really hits hard. That whole father-son thing is just messed up — you can tell from the start it’s gonna end badly, but the kid’s just trying to make his dad proud. It’s sad to watch.

What I like is it doesn’t try too hard to shock you. It just lets the tension build up slowly, and when everything falls apart, it feels real. The ending sticks with you ‘cause it’s not just tragedy for the sake of it — it’s more about how beliefs and loyalty can seriously mess someone up.

Definitely the kind of movie that stays with you after.

This is top-tier NPD cinema.
It’s satire on steroids: social media validation, performative trauma, the art world’s hypocrisy, the beauty industry’s fetish for “realness,” even how friends and family enable the madness. But underneath the cringe and dark laughs, there’s this uncomfortable truth: we all crave attention to some degree, and Signe is just the version without any brakes.
The way the film shows how far she’ll go—and how society rewards it—is viciously brilliant.
