Tbh I didn’t have the highest expectations going in but I was even more disappointed. This movie builds a coming-of-age story around an anglophone perspective on Mtl which relies on familiar cultural cues from viewers - only to feel like an exaggeration. The city isn’t a real space and this is what weakens the film within its own genre. It gestures toward specificity without developing it. There are many other fun ways to approach the chaos of a city’s music scene with a young woman’s sex life

Never in my life did I ever think I’d say that a wide shot of a Tesco Extra was one of the most visually stunning I've ever seen.
