The abrupt and prolonged switch of focus to Funes and the whole climax was a little disappointing because it was refreshing following a team of investigators. It was less cliché and more fun to have them pontificating and exploring vs. a novice or typical victim of a haunting. That being said, it's a really tight and enjoyable movie. Plot is a little half-baked but whatever. I liked that all the characters were ernest and believable, although some of the actors need to work on their faces of shock, and the visuals were outstanding, especially considering the budget.

It's super stylized which I enjoy even though the budget shows in this one. It's just lacking some oomph and excitement considering the premise is such a step in the right direction for the Chucky franchise. It's hard to feel that the stakes are high when everyone acts so ignorant.

A testament to the importance of audio in horror, but also it just didn't have enough meat, to the point it almost felt like a technical exercise. Very much in the Sinister family of horror but lacking as impactful imagery and character. Also I kept getting taken out of it because I thought their podcast sucked.

Also I feel bad I think it traumatized my friends :(

Hated the first one, loved this. I didnt ask for much! Just let me see.. mortal. combat. like??? Really fun, really stupid, some people were miscast but Johny Cage wasnt one of them. Maybe it's not technically a 5 star movie but it understood its assignment for the first fucking time with any of these movies. Also, it's actually incredible how many movies nowadays can't tie up a narrative or character arcs, when a silly movie like this can do most of its characters justice (especially the newbies) just fine.
