A fever dream like no other.... while it was difficult for me to relate to a lot of the nostalgia invoked here, that being the quiet horror of suburbia and the specific genre of media (I have hardly watched Twin Peaks, nor Buffy, etc.) I was able to relate to was being a boy who lost and found himself in "girl" shows.…
Watched this after studying for several hours and a glass of wine on a flight which added to the experience greatly I think.
Apart from the technicalities of the film which.. WOW. It is so dream-like almost in the camera movements, I audibly gasped twice just at how things *looked*. This film is so American from the Cowboy narrative, the alienation Travis experiences, his ‘apoliticism’, subsequent radicalization and ill-informed vigilantism. Then he makes something that is Shinzo Abe doohickey adjacent and crashes out with a sick Mohawk
