I feel similarly about this film as I did when I watched The Worst Person in the World, the only other film I’ve seen by Joachim Trier. I have a feeling that if I read the scripts on their own, I wouldn’t connect with the stories - but there’s something about his direction and the beautiful performances (Renate is mesmerizing) that just gets me.
