Outstanding movie that I wish I had seen way before today. Robert De Niro has absolutely placed himself as one of my favorite actors, and it's always magic when he and Scorsese get together for a film.

I was completely absorbed in this gritty, hypnotic portrayal of New York. Every corner felt alive with chaos, all set against that sweet, smoky jazz atmosphere. Bernard Herrmann's score is easily one of the best jazz soundtracks I've ever heard in a movie;…

At first the marketing for this movie didn't really interest me but I just took everyone's word of mouth that it was a masterpiece and god no one lied. This is some of the finest cinema I've ever seen. Every character in this movie is fantastic and feels just perfect for this universe. I fell in love with everyone. It starts off promising, but then it slaps you in the face if any of the lore in Danganronpa 2 was interesting to you. They turn all of those twists into cheap plot devices and just give you the middle finger. And they can't even be consistent with how everyone fell to despair. It's different for people somehow even when they already use a cop-out plot device for most of them. Just pathetic.

I knew nothing going into this movie, and I did not expect it to be downright perfect. The multiple layers of social commentary and tributes to black culture are a mind-blowing blend I've never seen in film. I love this movie to death and how well it turns vampires into something fresh while retaining most of the original mythology. By the end, tears were rolling, and I so badly wanted to go back to the start of the film. This is a must see.
