Almost feels like a kindred spirit to Eraserhead in the ways that the world seems to truly not exist outside the main setting, and that the ambient background noise is its own vehicle for extreme tension.

Just so good like I knew it would be. The lingering focus on faces, eyes, even grains of sand did so much visually for the tension and atmosphere I was astounded. The camera work was loose at times, but in a way that lended itself to the characters demeanor at the time. 

I may never look at the beach the same tbh.

It really is incredible how great can translate across decades and cultures and not lose any potency, man shoutout Taniguchi, Kurosawa, and Mifune man.

Al Pacino may or may not really enjoy a great big ass that performance was too convincing

The philosophical questions being posed here are so basic but also go so deep, Kurosawa really is amazing. Truth and the nature of it being tackled in under 2 hours so tightly is just mind blowing.
