As a magazine editor and fan of the original (who just left the NYC premiere) I can assure you all this was more than worth the twenty-year wait. The whole ensemble slips back into these characters so effortlessly. The chemistry hasn’t dimmed in the slightest. If anything, it’s sharper. Funnier! There are SOOO many callbacks to the original that, at first, it borders on indulgent. But then it clicks. Of course there are!! People don’t evolve out of their quirks……

I was smiling ear to ear beginning to end.
My only complaint is that Amazon should be releasing this in theaters. They’re leaving millions on the table by not doing so. If Sydney and Glen can command $210M (and counting) for ‘Anyone But You’, then surely Anne and…

Ariana and Cynthia are such stars. I really hope the Academy recognizes both of them for their layered and deeply heartfelt performances. Ariana had me crying 6 minutes into the opening scene when one of the Ozians asks whether it was true she was friends with Elphaba. The pain behind her eyes as she watched—with a smile, mind you!—all of Oz celebrating her friend’s death absolutely broke me. She was ACTING. And Cynthia? Wowowowowow. I was a puddle during her…
