A very fun albeit slightly underbaked romp that I'm choosing to read as an anti-AI statement (definitely not intentional but that guy at the end is a total AI bro).

A small rant about the movie Obsession. Yes, it’s a fine movie. Totally get why Jason Blum and whoever else were clamoring to get their paws on it. It will do big bucks and probably launch the careers of all these people and you know what, great, they deserve it, making a movie is hard, etc.
But can we go back to even a drop of originality? Seriously, not one creative lead on this movie made one original decision. Maybe…

Having just watched the world premiere, the first thing I can say is that it was very tastefully presented. But I don’t necessarily think that they should have continued making the film. As for the content itself, it’s an average modern take on a western with sub-decent performances. You can tell the difference between what was shot by Halyna and what wasn’t. I found myself, sadly, just feeling ‘meh’ after it. But it was a touching tribute to her and I hope that her family will find financial support post-premiere.

This movie is genuinely capital-I insane. I think it’s a bit rough around the edges but the literal insanity of it keeps it moving and keeps you engaged. All of the black market guys got on stage after the movie and for some (legally dubious) reason started making jokes about going back to selling things post-probation? The entire audience was in disbelief the entire time. The main suspect literally said “he had to be disassembled” referring to the missing animatronic. Am I going to be deposed for posting this??
