A very stupid movie that Luca obviously had a lot of fun making. None of it adds up and thank god for that. 

The film's cynical main idea that "rich people can do crimes and get away with it" lands as a metaphor for artifice and theatre rather than something the characters inhabit. I say that because these people seem entirely without interiority.   At their most wrenching, at their most "human," they seem most alien.

Features gay people who speak in riddles and strong acting across the board

“Mid.” Some good ideas and memorable characterizations. Would be more interesting if it confronted its own desperation head-on. Instead, it  hides behind the few same jokes again and again. Aims for an enchanted midsummer night and instead achieves something more like a miasmatic cynicism.

After watching this movie I am more grateful for the work of Radu Jude. His most recent film seems miles ahead of “Rumours.” Although it works in a different context, it addresses somewhat similar issues, and therefore seems all the more necessary.
