I miss 80s films like this!

I can't remember how many times I watched this film on cable growing up.  Seeing it fpr the first time in a theater, it really holds up. 

A story about love, grief and accepting old age, as well as always embracing your youth, of course, is far more moving as an adult, and I found myself weeping at the end.

Martin Short recently said on NPR: “I think we must figure a way to survive through grief without denying it or without in any way undermining its importance.”

This film being about a famous comedian almost feels like an after thought, when the interviews and the home videos show a life lived in joy, love and friendship.
