European Cut (229 mins)

“Many years ago, I had a friend, a dear friend. I turned him in to save his life, but he was killed. But he wanted it that way. It was a great friendship.”

Words can’t describe how much this film speaks to me.

I rewatched it recently, this time with my dad (he ended up enjoying the film, though he found it a bit odd bless him), and I still appreciate it just…

When Loneliness Turns Lethal 🐈‍⬛

Going into Obsession, two things were going through my subconscious: is this film worth the love, or is it another case of recency bias? I can confirm it’s the former. I decided to rewatch Rocketman after 3 years as I consider this to be one of the best musicals/biopics of the 21st century a bold statement, I know, but it’s got enough ingredients in the pot to make it stand out from its safer counterparts (example: cough, Bohemian Rhapshitty).

The same sentiment hasn’t changed, its a vibe.

National Film Registry Year of Placement: 2016

Four days ago, Thelma & Louise hit its 35th anniversary, so a rewatch was imminent via my Criterion 4K. I have to say, the film opened a different door altogether that I couldn't decipher on my first watch, but that’s the real beauty of rewatches after a good while: it either hits more or less, and for this film, it was the former.

It’s a buddy comedy-drama that…
