Can't Get You Out of My Head: Films of Obsession

Obsession rarely announces itself. It lingers, deepens, and quietly takes hold. This Spring, our thematic season Can’t Get You Out Of My Head: Films Of Obsession, explores cinema’s enduring fascination with fixation in all its forms, from voyeurism and stalking to creative mania, erotic compulsion, and love pushed far beyond reason. What begins as desire or curiosity gradually distorts into something more consuming, blurring the line between control and surrender.

Sound and Vision: Remembering David Bowie

Few artists have moved so effortlessly between the artistic spheres of the stage and the silver screen, and even fewer have done so with the otherworldly magnetism of David Bowie. This March, coinciding with the anniversary re-release of The Man Who Fell to Earth and ten years since he left for his home planet, our selection, Sound And Vision: Remembering David Bowie, celebrates a performer for whom acting was never a sidestep but just another canvas for reinvention.

Diaspora Diaries

We have always strived to be a place where people from many backgrounds can come together through a shared love of cinema. In our programs, films from around the world are shown side by side, always with English subtitles, so that stories can travel freely and be experienced collectively on the big screen. It is in this spirit of openness, curiosity, and care that we present Diaspora Diaries, a carefully curated season taking place from January until the end of…

New Hollywood: The Films of the American New Wave

This fall, we plunge into the raw, untamed energy of 1970s American cinema with the re-release of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Marking the film’s 50th anniversary, and accompanied by our retrospective Jack of All Trades: The Best of Jack Nicholson, the season traces the fevered pulse of the New Hollywood era, a time when rebellious filmmakers and magnetic stars redefined the boundaries of American storytelling.

Jack of All Trades: The Best of Jack Nicholson

Fifty years after One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest changed the face of American cinema, we celebrate Jack Nicholson’s unmatched blend of charm, danger, and mischief. From rebellious drifters to unhinged villains, this retrospective captures the wild genius of a true screen icon.

Love Is a Three-Letter Word: The Films of Paul Thomas Anderson

To coincide with the release of Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film One Battle After Another, we’re presenting a retrospective of his unforgettable body of work, titled Love Is A Three Letter Word, a playful nod to the familiar abbreviation of his name, PTA. From the restrained debut Hard Eight to the lush spectacle of Licorice Pizza, explore the obsessions, love, and complexity that define his cinema.

40 Years of Studio Ghibli

This August and September, we celebrate 40 years of Studio Ghibli, the legendary animation studio that redefined what animated cinema could be. Coinciding with the release of not one but two new documentaries about Hayao Miyazaki, and a brand-new 4K restoration of his masterpiece Princess Mononoke, our program brings some of the studio’s most beloved films back to the big screen.

Sooo nice to see this again almost 5 years later! I feel like this film really made me appreciate animation storytelling so much more and how powerful it can be. Both the story and the way it is told is super beautiful. This was the only film I really wanted to screen at lab and I'm so happy and proud that I was able to and that it even got an applause from the audience (except I missed it cause…

Eigenlijk 6 sterren wanneer je ook mag dansen

I would have chosen Himalayan brown bear

The stunning cinematography and insanely well shot closeups go so well with the transcending score.

Ennio Morricone truly is the king of film scores.

a lovely pre-lunch appetiser for my first time back in the cinema since, like, june???? i missed you europa cinemas theme song. thoughtful & meandering, i really love the way varda captures los angeles here, in a way that seems posed, but not artificial. watching this it weirdly made so much sense why my friends who are from california are the way that they are, starry-eyed and self-assured. 💙

Seeing this on the big screen is a wonderful experience. The music and action are amplified. The joy we had watching was different than at home. I could see childlike wonderful and glee in the eyes. Where's the hype for Ponyo?
