Oh Adam you can do no wrong.
I love how vulnerabile and intimate this mythological exploration of the father son dynamic translated in my viewing experience. South LA was captured in a beautifully and grounded way - with its deep coloration, tight lens, and environmentally-focused shot composition. The boundaries between childhood purity and tragedy are blurred in a way that mourns for loss of innocence, but positively reminds us that the light is not gone, just hidden deep within. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to watch this, and to hear the director deep dive into the writing process for this project. The light shines a little brighter because of it.
Should have watched this months ago when I was told for my Hitchcock film class.
