In The Drama’s defense, I laughed a ton and overall had a good time seeing this (on an edible) in a packed theater. Zendaya’s performance is remarkably strong, almost enough to save a woefully underdeveloped and neglected character. The bit parts (Jeremy, Sydney Lemmon, Zoe Winters) were also soo funny, and I can’t deny that it’s a conversation starter.

Oh, brother. I'm writing this before reading/looking at any reviews from friends because I don't want to be unduly influenced, but I thought this was atrocious. If I had gone into The Substance knowing it was a ridiculous, vapid horror movie, I think I could have had more fun, but I was expecting a good movie and so I was a bit dismayed.
