Honestly, I’m really disappointed. I was SO excited for this (shoutout to the great marketing and that SCP/Creepypasta seminar I took in my final year) but it was just so… underwhelming? Lacking? Surface level? Idk.

Genuinely horrific and disturbing. Obligatory shoutout to how Lynch likes to delve into the juxtaposition between the veneer of (suburban, small town) mundanity and the seedy underbelly of the beasts that live below it. The performances in his films are usually stellar, but I cannot help but be completely entranced (and terrified) by Dennis Hopper and Isabella Rossellini. I’m also a sucker for the soundtrack in this one. I’m so fascinated by how Lynch writes and am so so curious…

I’m so incredibly fascinated and obsessed with the topic of sibling dynamics — I genuinely believe them (and family dynamics in general) to be the most interesting relationships to interrogate, especially through art.
