Reminiscent of some of my favorite films like Aftersun, The Tale, and Jess + Moss, where memory lives in these fragmented and somewhat liminal landscapes. Especially when Romvari’s meta approach comes into full display towards the latter half of the film. It caught me off guard and almost lost me for a moment, but she engages with it in such a sincere and heartbreaking way that is really impactful.

There’s a lot of really cool things going on here but none of it is cohesive. The tone is all over the place and the overt sound design doesn’t help.
The film feels particularly scattered when we are shown Vicky’s school environment. This entire storyline feels underdeveloped and the subject of her race is briefly touched upon but never fleshed out. If this plot line was cut I don’t think it would have impacted the story.
