but yeah as a claustrophobe who loves horror movies and hates fomo, I had a blast (I almost had a panic attack). I'm not familiar with any of the lore, but the concept of the backrooms embodying being stuck and it being this endless living repository that eats and spits out people and spaces and memories like in Annihilation is so cool.
ludwig going absolutely sicko mode with the score, as per usual. one planet had some nasty synths that made me wanna dance in that movie theater. otherwise harmless but forgettable, pointless, and slightly soulless fun. I'm not immune to grogu propaganda i would lay my life on the line for that little guy idk what to tell you

I'm the first to come out loving an ambitious film, but this was a frustrating watch for me. I thought it was trying to say too much with an essentially incoherent plot that felt like it was simply coasting on vibes and visuals. And don't get me wrong. I think there are some intriguing and downright stunning visuals here, especially with the use of animals.
