To hear May Pang talk about John Lennon feels so much more reliable than anything that ever came out of Yoko Ono’s mouth. There is a love and reverence, something that doesn’t seem self serving. Their story is told through interviews, sound bites, and May’s personal photos, and her side of the story is constantly corroborated by people in the know. And that’s what makes this documentary good. Rarely is anything involving John taken seriously or not covered in sarcasm or mystery. It’s straightforward and loving. And it continues to show what a mess Ono as to his life and everyone around him.
