I’ve loved this team since Hellier season 1. The Planet Weird crew displays what stories can be told when lingering on the strange instead of dismissing it out of hand. Further, they bring thoughtfulness, patience, and care to their research and interpretation. Unlike a lot of the TV shows that follow the ghost hunter formula, the paranormal for the Newkirks is a site of real, messy, earthy, and achingly human encounter rather than a superficial and exploitative spectacle.
