Had both what I hoped and what I dreaded would be in a Backrooms movie. Starting with the good, Parsons has an excellent understanding of the look and feel of the Backrooms. The uncanniness and dread of it is captured for the most part pretty flawlessly. Also set design was nuts. The amount of swings and turns this film takes both plot and style almost at times makes it almost too maximalist. Riley is taking every possible opportunity to showcase his colorful mind and admittedly it does fail sometimes, but even then you can’t help but just look in awe at something being this ballsy no matter the resources it has.
